NicholsNickMemorial Services for Reverend Carol “Nick” Nichols, age 90, of Ft. Worth will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Early First Baptist Church; interment will be private. Visitation will be held Friday, October 9, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Reverend Carol “Nick” Nichols went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2015.  He was born in Winters, Texas on August 7, 1925 to J.W. and Hettie (Mitchell) Nichols.  He graduated from Early High School. Nick married Odessa Lee Wheat August 13, 1943, and they were happily married for 72 years.

Nick received his BA degree from Howard Payne University.  He then received his Masters degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, in San Francisco, CA.  He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII.  He was called into the ministry of the gospel in 1946 and served as pastor in Moline, TX and Early First Baptist Church.  He was called back into the Air Force during the Korean Conflict in 1951 and was sent to California, where he flew B29 bombers.  After his discharge, he stayed in California and served as minister in churches in Rodeo, Albany, Salinas, Norwalk and Gardena.  He was also the Executive Director of the California Baptist Foundation.  He retired in 1993 and returned to Brownwood where he lived until January 2012, when he moved to Fort Worth.

Reverend Nichols is survived by his wife, Odessa Nichols; daughter, Patricia Wells; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Paul Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Pat Nichols; and daughter Marcia Nichols; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his twin sister, Carol Spurlock; six nieces and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Hettie Nichols; brothers, Walter and Wilbur Nichols; and a sister, Dorothy.
