Sunday morning, at approximately 1:53am, Brownwood Police responded to what appeared to be a Mustang that had left the road, plowed through a yard, tearing down a chain link fence, then colliding with a parked Nissan Maxima, which was sent through what had been the dining rooms of two apartments in the 1700 block of 3rd Street.
When police arrived, the driver, an 18-year-old male, a 22-year-old male and two minor passengers suffered minor injuries. The police report states that the driver had been using his mother’s car without permission and spent the evening drinking with friends.
The report indicates that the occupants of the apartments had all been in the bedrooms sleeping when the vehicle came through their dining rooms. The report also states that the occupant s of the apartments reported no injuries from the collision, but went to BRMC after all of them complained of chest pains. The Red Cross was contacted and made living arrangements for these residents.
The report states that the juvenile suspects were all later released to guardians; however no arrests were made due to the suspects’ injuries. No charges were filed at the time of the incident since the owner of the complex was not able to be contacted.
