Emergency responders we called to a two-vehicle accident Friday night at 9:45 PM in the 8600 block of Highway 279 between Big G Grocery and the Lake Brownwood bridge.
An 18-wheeler and gray Chevy Impala collided in the roadway sending the passenger car off the road. Responders on scene said that the female driver of the car had a broken leg and cuts and bruises, but she was alert and talking. The Brownwood Fire Department had to cut the door off of the vehicle to extricate the woman from the car. The woman was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The 18-wheeler had no visible damage and the driver was not injured. No details of what caused the wreck were available at the scene Friday night.
The Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Brownwood Fire Department’s Rescue 1, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, and Guardian EMS all responded to the scene.
