MillsRonaldRayJrWhile assisting Brownwood Police Department with a security detail at the Brownwood Coliseum during a concert, Early Police Sgt. Shawn Dibrell received information from an informant that led to the arrest of a Bangs man for selling or giving away “chocolate drops.”

Several bands were performing at the coliseum during the event which was open to the public.

According to Dibrell, the informant told the officer that “Ronnie” Ronald Ray Mills, Jr. was at the concert giving away or selling the suspicious candy.  These drops were described by the informant as a “mixture of chocolate and some type of hallucinogenic narcotic.”

Upon learning this information, Sgt. Dibrell met with a Brownwood Police officer who was also working at the event and they located Mills and began to watch his activities.

Dibrell reported that he and the other officer “noticed Mills, accompanied by his friend Harley Griffin, go to Mills’ vehicle, open the driver’s door briefly, reach in and leave immediately afterwards walking toward the back unlit area of the parking lot.”  The officers followed Mills and Griffin to further investigate when the two men saw and approached the officers.  Dibrell, knowing Mills from past dealings, asked how he was doing and Mills advised that he was living in Austin and was “staying out of trouble,” according to Dibrell.  At this point, the officers confronted the men about the allegations.

Police said that Mills consented to a vehicle search and while opening the door to let the officers search, Sgt. Dibrell noticed Mills trying to hide something in the seat cover.  Officers soon discovered approximately 60 grams of melted chocolate mixed with Psilocybin Mushrooms, and the mixture was prepackaged in a manner which was consistent with distribution, according to police reports.  In addition to the illegal mixture, officers located marijuana and supporting paraphernalia in the same vehicle.  Mills stated that it all belonged to him and he had given some of the “chocolate drops” to friends of his who were attending the concert.

39-year-old Ronald Mills was arrested for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 greater than 28g, less than 200g in a Drug Free Zone, which is a first degree felony.  35-year-old Harley Dee Griffin of Lake Brownwood was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest and was arrested as well.
