Bruner Toyota held a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on Friday to celebrate their new facility that recently opened in Early across from Heartland Mall.

Local officials and dignitaries were in attendance to celebrate the event which was kicked off with a parade led by the Early High School cheerleaders and band along with the introduction of Bruner’s new mascot, “Mr. B.”

Texas District 60 Representative Jim Keffer, Brown County Judge Ray West and Early Mayor Bob Mangrum each said a few words to welcome the Bruner family to the new location, and Bruner Toyota President Greg Bruner expressed his thanks to the community for their success in the area.

“Today’s Grand Opening pays tribute to the strong economy here in Brown County,” Bruner said. “Because businesses are opening, businesses are growing and people are moving to this area because of the quality of life.”

Bruner also announced that Bruner Toyota in partnership with Toyota is launching a new program to focus on local students in the area.

“Education is a big priority for Toyota and it is to us as well,” Bruner said. “We know the kind of challenges kids face in school and in life.”

The new program called the Bruner Toyota Youth of Inspiration Award will recognized local high school students who have focused on their education while dealing with their own struggles.

“We are working with area high schools, asking them to identify students that have overcome significant obstacles in their lives,” Bruner said.

Each month they will recognize one boy and one girl student from area high schools, and after one year will choose one boy and one girl from those selections at a banquet to each receive a $500 scholarship and a matching donation to their school.

The first students recognized were Haley May and Ian Jackson from Early High School.

To conclude the Grand Opening event, a ribbon was cut to mark the special occasion and refreshments were provided to the hundreds of participants attending the event (pictured above).
