The corner of Hwy 377 and Hwy 183 North in Early is undergoing a transformation to make way for a relocating business. The old Higginbotham buildings and several other structures are being torn down, preparing the way for the new Bruner Auto Group facility. Bruner, currently located at 300 E. Commerce in Brownwood, purchased the 16 acre parcel that stretches from Prima Pasta to Scott’s Western Wear to build a more modern and up-to-date showroom and service center.
Plans for the new building have yet to be finalized, but staff members at Bruner Auto Group are showing their excitement that progress is underway.
“It’s been a journey just getting the buildings demolished,” stated Jim Stanley, General Manager of Bruner Auto Group.
Stanley stated that everyone is anxiously looking to move forward with the building process which will hopefully be completed in about a year from now. The current facility where Bruner is located was built in 1962.
“There have been tremendous improvements since then,” Stanley said. “It will be a very nice modern facility.”
General Motors is requiring upgrades to many of their facilities and car dealerships. This move will allow for the required improvements and also allow Bruner’s GM/Chevy and Toyota dealerships to be housed under one roof.
“The new location will be good for everyone – the mall and the general area,“ said Stanley.
Construction plans will be subject to approval from GM and Toyota before they move to the next phase.
