Funeral services for Bruce Bennett Burrell, 71, of Lake Brownwood will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nathan Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Burrell passed away Sunday.
Bruce was born April 1, 1948 in Borger, Texas to Wiley Cornelius and Jocie Evelyn (Bentley) Burrell. He grew up learning to farm and ranch. Bruce proudly served 11 years in the United States Navy in their nuclear submarine program. After serving in the Navy, he continued to serve his country as a law enforcement officer until his retirement. Bruce was a member of both the Bangs Masonic Lodge #926 and the Indian Creek Masonic Lodge #806. On April 7, 1998, Bruce married Vicki Gibson in Shamrock, Texas.
Those left behind to cherish his memories include his wife, Vicki; children, Mark and Aimee Burrell, David and Amy Burrell, James and Tessa Schlegelmilch and Cynthia and Teddy Van Curen; 13 grandchildren; one great grandson; aunt Nora Pearl Delozier, as well as many cousins, nieces, one nephew and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Hubert Chanlor and Leota Lorena (Connell) Bentley; paternal grandparents, John Henry and Lillie Rose (Sammons) Burrell; daughter, Danita Christine Burrell; brothers, Wiley Don Burrell and Jon Chandler Burrell.
