National Association of Town Watch (NATW) recently announced award winners for the 31st annual National Night Out (NNO), and the Brownwood/Brown County National Night Out event, held on October 7th, was selected for an award for its outstanding participation in the event.
The local event placed 14th out of 42 in the 15,000-49,999 population category.
This is the 5th straight year that Brownwood/Brown County has won an award for National Night Out. In 2010, Brownwood won a rookie of the year award for their first year of participation. Since then, the local event has placed #42 in 2011, #27 in 2012 and #22 in 2013.
“We are very pleased, and proud of this recognition,” said Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller. “This award is for the entire community and I would like to thank everyone who helped, volunteered and participated.”
All NNO 2014 Award Winners are posted on the National Night Out website.
“Please remember that this was a combined effort between Brownwood PD, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Early PD, Brown County Lake Patrol and of course the community of Brown County,” Fuller said. “The Brownwood Chamber of Commerce was a great partner, and we especially thank all of our corporate sponsors. I also don’t want to forget the Brownwood Fire Department, Allegiance Ambulance and Heart of Texas EMS for their help and support.”
Local participating sponsors for the 2014 National Night Out included Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers, 3M Company, Allegiance Ambulance, Wal-Mart, ATMOS Energy, Heart of Texas EMS, KYOX, Oncor, TexasBank, Weldon Wilson Electric and Thrivent Financial.
