NNO_2013LogoNational Association of Town Watch (NATW), recently notified organizers that the Brownwood/Brown County National Night Out (NNO) event was selected as a National Award Winner for its outstanding participation in the “30th Anniversary National Night Out” (NNO) crime, drug and violence prevention program held on October 1st.

Brownwood Chief of Police Mike Corley was very proud of the local NNO event receiving another award.  In the 15,000-49,999 population category, Brownwood placed 22nd out of 275 award entries.

“As you might recall, in 2010, we won a rookie of the year award.  In 2011, we placed at #42 in Category 4.  Last year, we placed at #27.  So every year, we have improved our ranking,” said Corley.  “I think that says a lot for all of our partners and the entire Brown County community.”

Brownwood Police Department will receive a special award recognizing the area’s achievements in the NNO 2013 campaign within approximately one month according to a letter received from National Project Coordinator Matt Pesldn.

According to Pesldn, this year’s event involved 37.8 million people in 16,124 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.

“We extend our congratulations for being selected among the nation’s best,” congratulated Pesldn in the award notification letter.

All NNO 2013 Award Winners are posted on the National Night Out website.
