An outcry of a victim of alleged sexual abuse led Child Protective Services to alert Brownwood Police, resulting in the arrest of 34-year-old Catherine Louise Armstrong of Brownwood Wednesday.
Brownwood Police Department, in a joint investigation with CPS, conducted interviews and determined there was enough evidence of physical and sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age by the suspect and her common law husband. According to Sgt. James Kidd, the investigation is ongoing and there are other active warrants involved in the case.
The duration of the abuse was not available at the time of the report.
Armstrong was charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of Child; Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child; and Abandon/Endanger Child. She is currently being held in the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $215,000.
