Third and fourth grade students in the Brownwood ISD Gateway program are exploring the ancient Greek world of Odysseus.  “Besides studying the monsters, myths and mysteries of Greece, the students are also learning about art and architecture,” explained elementary GT teacher Nancy Anderson.  “Much of what we know about this civilization was learned from the art on Greek pottery.”

To experience this medium, students researched the designs and then made their own interpretations using permanent marker and clay flowerpots.  Designs feature Greek elements, monsters, gods and goddesses, Greek lettering, ships, and soldiers.

Pictured above and below are student-decorated Greek-style pots on display at Coggin Elementary.
