Two Brownwood baseball teams are advancing to the TTAB Junior Boys state tournament once again this year with the Brownwood White Sox taking first and the Brownwood Rangers placing second in their recent district tournament.
At the District Tournament last week in Stephenville, the Brownwood White Sox and Brownwood Rangers took first and second place and advanced to the State Tournament which will begin next Monday in Eastland. Other teams in the District 2 Tournament were: Hamilton Blue Sox, Hico, Stephenville Mi Familia, Gorman Pathers, Bangs Dragons, Goldthwaite Eagles, Ranger Raiders and Clyde.
The Brownwood Rangers were 3-2 and the Brownwood White Sox went 4-0.

Tuesday, July 13- The White Sox (11) vs. Goldthwaite Eagles (1): Colt Evetts pitched a complete game allowing only 3 hits. Offensively, Cameron Deal went 3 for 3, scoring 3 runs and Elijah Salazar contributed a homerun also scoring 3 runs.
Thursday, July 15 – White Sox (15) vs. Ranger Raiders (3) – Seth Owen pitched 5 innings for the win with 9 K’s and Andrew Arriaga came in for the save the last two innings adding 4 K’s. Bryant McDaniel, Cameron Deal, and Colt Evetts all went 3 for 3 in the game contributing 11 of the 15 runs between the three of them. Scott Kinzler and Cameron Deal contributed 4 RBIs each.
Friday, July 16 – White Sox (7) vs Bangs Dragons (1) – Scott Kinzler pitched a complete game against the Bangs Dragons. He threw 11 K’s and allowed ONLY 1 hit. This game sent the White Sox to the Championship game Saturday morning at 9 a.m. With this loss, the Dragons had to face the Brownwood Rangers in the next game that evening to vie for the opportunity to play in the Championship game. The game went back and forth throughout the night resulting in a tie 4-4 in the 7th inning. Finally, in the 11th inning (around midnight), Brownwood Rangers went up by 1 because of a Bangs defensive error at first base. That win sent the Brownwood Rangers to the final Championship Game Saturday.
CHAMPIONSHIP: Saturday, July 17 – White Sox (7) vs. Rangers (4) – Cameron Deal started the game pitching the first 3 innings. He threw 6 K’s, allowing only 2 hits and no runs. Bryant McDaniel came in the last 4 innings securing the Save and striking out 5 batters. Offensively, Colt Evetts went 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Bryant McDaniel a single and a score, Cameron Deal a single and 2 scores, Scott Kinzler 2 singles and an RBI, Carson McAnally a single with an RBI, Morgan Hall a single and a score, and Justin Howard a single and 2 scores.
The Brownwood White Sox went undefeated in the District tournament, outscoring their opponents 40 – 9.
