Students at Coggin Elementary and the Brownwood Intermediate School were placed on a brief lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to the report of a suspicious person in the vicinity of the campuses.
Brownwood Police were called shortly before 1:00 p.m. and arrived within 2 minutes of receiving the call according to BISD officials. Officers searched the area and after no one suspicious and no threats were found, the lockdown was discontinued shortly after.
Assistant Chief James Fuller explained the school administration and staff reacted appropriately stating, “We’re happy with the caution that was taken and we’re happy with the way the school reacted. We’re very pleased with the outcome and that nothing occurred.”
