The Brownwood Reunion Celebration is only two weeks away and organizers are preparing for another year of fun events, including the one of the favorites, the classic car show.
Last year’s show featured about 50 classic vehicles and was seen by thousands of people during the Reunion weekend inside the Brownwood Coliseum, and this year’s show promises to draw just as much attention.
Local car club the Heartland Cruisers puts the show together each year, all without charging admission fees to attendees or contestants. According to the club president Donnie Seale, this year’s show is sure to please with many exciting new entries.
“Hopefully we’ll have some really neat things that will be different from the years past,” said Seale.
He mentioned a few entries that have been received which include a 1941 Packard Roadster, a 1927 Star Roadster, some race cars including an 850 horsepower 1949 Anglia, a Diamond T slant bed wrecker with a ’62 Rambler on it., and a “tin can trailer.” Of course there will also be plenty of Camaros and Corvettes, promised Seale.
Awards such as the coveted People’s Choice, Outstanding Entry awards, Longest Distance and Club Choice awards are presented each year. This year, motorcycles have been added to the show and an additional People’s Choice will be awarded in this category. The People’s Choice and Outstanding Entries are determined by votes cast from attendees who visit the show over the weekend.
Those who are interested in entering a vehicle in the car show should call soon, as the show is almost filled up according to Seale.
