JerriJonesJune2015The Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers, during their July 2015 Executive Board Meeting, honored Jerri Jones as the June 2015 BRMC Volunteer of the Month.  Jerri has been a BRMC Volunteer since January 2009. She currently volunteers at the information desk at BRMC.  Jerri is a past secretary of the BRMC Volunteer Organization, having served in that position of responsibility from June 2012 through May 2015. She was thanked during the Executive Board Meeting by current BRMC Volunteers President, JoAnn Goodwin, for her willingness to take on extra assignments whenever the need arises.  Jerri has over 1520 hours of Volunteer Service at BRMC.

The Volunteer of the Month Award is chosen by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year. Recipients of the award receive recognition and lunch at the executive board meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected.  Each BRMC Volunteer of the Month recipient is recognized with a framed Volunteer of the Month certificate, a gift card for a dinner at a local restaurant, and a carrying bag emblazoned with a large heart containing the statement “A Work of Heart.”  The carrying bag contains items that celebrate the Texas Association of Hospital Volunteers motto for 2015 – 2016 “Remember those who cannot remember; knowledge empowers caregivers.”  This motto emphasizes the need to improve everyone’s knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease.

Volunteering at Brownwood Regional Medical Center allows caring individuals to be helpful to others, to develop and grow personally, to gain a sense of achievement, to be creative, and to be part of a team.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a volunteer. Opportunities for volunteering are available in 8 service areas which include the information desk, intensive care unit waiting, emergency room waiting, day surgery waiting, surgery waiting, the gift shop, the book cart, and the tray favors committee.

For those with an interest in volunteering 6 to 8 hours per month, BRMC Volunteering is for them.  BRMC Volunteer applications may be obtained in the BRMC Gift Shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com, by calling the BRMC Volunteer Office at 325-649-3399 or emailing the BRMC Volunteers at brmc_volunteer@brmc-cares.com and leaving a message.  Those who have an interest in volunteering may also contact Andrea Lee, BRMC Marketing Coordinator, at 325-649-3392.
