SandraSmithBRMCMarch2014VOMBRMC Volunteer Sandra Smith was honored as the March 2014 Volunteer of the Month during the April 2014 Executive Board Meeting of the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers.  She has been a Volunteer for over 6 years having joined the organization in 2007.  Sandra is a familiar face in the BRMC Gift Shop.  She has over 750 hours of Volunteer Service at BRMC.

When asked why she became a BRMC Volunteer, Sandra explained that when she retired from teaching, she looked for a place to give back to the community.  The BRMC Volunteers met her objective of serving others.  She chose the gift shop volunteer service area because she likes to meet and talk with people.  The gift shop service area also allows her to assist family members and visitors when choosing a gift for a love one or a friend.

The Volunteer of the Month Award is awarded by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year.  Recipients of the award receive recognition and lunch at the executive board meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected.  Each BRMC Volunteer of the Month recipient is recognized with a framed volunteer of the month certificate, a ‘For the Love of a Child’ pin which represents the motto of the Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers for the 2013 – 2014 volunteer year and a ‘BRMC Volunteer of the Month’ bar.

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a Volunteer.  BRMC Volunteer application forms may be obtained in the BRMC Gift Shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer Office at 325-649-3399 and leaving a message.
