Brownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC) has named Sherry Piper as the 2015 Employee of the Year. The award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Sherry was chosen from among 550 hospital employees for this honor.

Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers, based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.
Sherry Piper, RRT has worked at BRMC since June of 2003. She began her career on the night shift where she worked for approximately a year before moving to Lead Therapist on the day rotation. In June 2006, she was honored as Employee of the Month. In February 2007, Piper became an RRT. In 2009, was named the Interim Manager of Cardiopulmonary and then in 2010 was named Manager of Cardiopulmonary. She managed the department for about a year and a half and decided and missed direct patient care. She then returned as the day shift lead therapist. Piper maintains many certifications including ACLS, PALS, NRP and BLS. She has been a respiratory therapist for 16 years and has proudly worked for BRMC for 13 years. She previously worked for Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas and then Baylor University Medical Center in downtown Dallas.“While I was attending college, I worked for a rehab facility in Midland, Texas and that’s when I knew I wanted to work directly with patients. So, I decided to apply for the respiratory care program. I did receive my degree in Applied Science toward Respiratory Care and I love my job! The most rewarding part of my job is for me to help someone! It is very rewarding to know I have helped them feel better.” said Sherry Piper.
Sherry’s supervisor, William Loyd, Cardiopulmonary Director said, “I have had the great pleasure to get to know and work with Sherry for several years. I have always found her trustworthy, competent, and joyful. In fact, I have never worked with an individual who gives as much devotion to her patients that she does. Also, she has a great passion for her profession and display’s it every day with unlimited admiration.”

Brownwood Regional Medical Center is a 188 bed acute care facility that has provided competent and compassionate care to the Central Texas area since 1969, according to Marketing Director Donna Hair. “Our commitment to progress in diagnosis and treatment is combined with a dedicated medical care team that continues to be the key to our success,” explained Hair.
BRMC’s services include inpatient care, a level four emergency care department, women’s center/obstetric unit, skilled nursing unit, and sleep lab center, heart center/cardiac rehab, Walker Cancer Center radiation/medical oncology, surgical services, gastroenterology lab, outpatient services and a hospitalist program. The imaging and diagnostic services are provided in-house and in a freestanding outpatient center. BRMC offers a freestanding Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center, the BRMC Therapy Zone and five One Source Family Care Centers located in Brownwood, Early, Rising Star, San Saba & Santa Anna.
