February 25, 2014-Brownwood Regional Medical Center has named Vivian Boswell, CRT, as Employee of the Year for 2013. BRMC also named Shannon DeLaCruz, BSN RN as Clinical Director of the Year and Melinda Kyle as Non-Clinical Director of the Year. These individuals were chosen from among 590 hospital employees for the honor. Pictured above are DeLaCruz and Kyle.
Health care requires a special blend of great people skills, tireless energy and the ability to work well under pressure, says Chip Camp, CEO. “People who work in health care share a common desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a pleasure to recognize these employees for their dedication to our patients, and provide outstanding care.”
Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers, based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism and their contributions on the job.
Employee of Year, Vivian Boswell, CRT (pictured above) has worked at BRMC since 2000 as a part time employee with a temporary license and a full-time employee within 2 months after earning the CRT certification. “I love taking care of patients and have always felt that God put me here for a purpose. I love being a part of the care team and love caring for my patients and my co-workers. I know how lucky I am to work here and it is an awesome feeling being awarded this honor,” said Boswell.
Clinical Director of the Year, Shannon Young DeLaCruz, BSN RN CIC (pictured left) has been at BRMC since 1994. She was hired as a staff nurse on 2E and within one year became a Charge Nurse. She transferred to the Rural Health Clinic as Operations Manager in 2003. In 2006, she came back to the hospital setting as Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse and in 2010 became the Director of Infection Control/Prevention and Employee Health. She received her certification in Infection Control in 2008 and earned her BSN in 2010. She is currently working on her Masters of Nursing at Texas Tech HSC. She said, “The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I can make a difference in someone’s life.” She went on to say she feels very honored to be named the Clinical Director of the Year.
Non-Clinical Director of the Year, Melinda Kyle, Director of Business Office, (pictured left) has been at BRMC since 2012. She has worked in a health care organization since high school and has held several positions in the business office setting. She shared that her mom greatly influenced her decision to work in healthcare because of her position in the accounts payable/payroll department at her local hospital. Melinda’s first position in a hospital setting was as a hospital PBX phone operator and a number of years later she became a Business Office Director in 1998. She said that she has always found that working in health care has been very rewarding and challenging. She was very excited to be named Non-Clinical Director of the Year.
