On Monday, October 12th Brownwood Police officers received a call of a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Broadmoor Dr.  A police report of the incident states that due to officer’s 50 second response time, police surmised that a suspect would not have had time to exit the front of the residence.

Brownwood Police Officers Sky Self and Zane Taylor searched a wooded area around the residence for a suspect.  The report states that pristine conditions existed for foot prints to be tracked on the ground due to weather conditions, but no human prints were detected.  Neighbors also reported not seeing any activity around the home.  The report states that police saw no visible signs of entry.  The investigation determined that there was an amount of cash missing from a safe in the home.

Upon further investigation, police began to suspect that a worker for the home owner, 49-year-old Chira Carr who originally reported the burglary, may have had something to do with it.  Police interviewed Carr the next day and during the interview Carr confessed to stealing some money from the safe according to police reports.  Carr retrieved the cash and police took custody of it.

Carr was arrested for theft and making a false report and taken to Brown County Jail.
