Brownwood Police Officer Brian Tompkins issued a report regarding a dispute in the parking lot of WalMart on Friday afternoon.

A man explained that he and a friend were looking for a parking spot at WalMart when they had a near collision with another vehicle.

The report states that the men raised their hands to the driver of the other vehicle, identified as Edward Laroy Simpson, and told him to lookout.  The victim explained that Simpson started “mouthing” at them and they drove away.

As the men pulled into a parking spot, Simpson pulled in behind them.  In the report, the men say the all parties exited their vehicles and Simpson was “mouthing” again.  The report also states that the men say that Simpson pulled out a rifle from behind his seat and pointed it at them making threats.

Police interviewed all parties, reviewed surveillance video, and located the weapon identified as a shotgun.

Simpson was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and transported to Brown County Jail.
