SamuelSanchezIIBrownwood Police arrested a man early Saturday morning following a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Durham.  According to reports, as officers arrived, a small boy ran to them appearing scared.  A male later identified as 21-year-old Samuel Sanchez II, came toward the officer and the boy while cussing loudly, the report further states.

The young boy told police that the older male had been drinking during the night and became angry and violent when the younger boy drank out of his cup.   Sanchez reportedly grabbed the younger boy by the throat and began punching and slapping him to the point, the boy said, “He almost choked me out,” meaning he was choked to the point of unconsciousness according to police reports.  Police observed that the boy had injuries that were consistent with his story.

Officers noticed that Sanchez was intoxicated, cussing and being generally belligerent and even becoming confrontational.  When asked for his side of the story, Sanchez said that his younger relative had attacked him.

Two people, assumed to be the parents of Sanchez, were standing near the sidewalk according to the police report.  Police asked Sanchez if his parents spoke English so officers could find out what they had witnessed.   Sanchez stated that they did not speak English and when officers said that a Spanish speaking officer was coming to interview his parents, Sanchez became enraged, cussing, taunting officers to cuff him according to the police report.

The officer attempted to put cuffs on Sanchez’s outstretched arms, but he knocked the cuffs to the ground the report states.  The report also states that Sanchez became aggressive and the responding officer found it necessary to protect himself from the suspect and punched Sanchez causing him to stagger.   Another officer assisted, helping to get Sanchez into handcuffs and eventually into the patrol car.   The report indicates that Sanchez continued to be aggressive and was trying to kick the patrol unit windows.

Worrying that Sanchez might injure himself and damage the patrol unit, the officer opened the doors to remove Sanchez who began kicking the officer in the knees, using his feet as weapons the report states.  The officer then went to the other side of the vehicle and removed him placing him on the ground where the assisting officer put leg irons on Sanchez and placing him back into the patrol car.

Sanchez was arrested for Assault on a Public Servant, Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence, Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication, and Making Alcohol Available to a Minor.  The police reports states that once at the jail, Sanchez insinuated that he wanted the officer’s name so once he was released; he could retaliate against the officer.
