Friday morning, approximately 12:45am, Brownwood Police responded to a call in the 2300 block of Belmeade regarding a man holding 4 boys at gunpoint at his home.  The officers arrived on scene and took control of the gun which was a fully loaded .357 Magnum revolver according to police reports.  The report also states that the four males were sitting in the driveway of the residence after being ordered to do so by the home owner, 43-year-old Terry Paul Dolberry,  until police arrived.  Dolberry was secured in handcuffs while officers determined the cause of the incident.

The juveniles told police that they had been in one of their own yards, and decided to go to the convenience store to get drinks.  The yard they were in was the back yard of a house, also in the 2300 block, a few houses down from the scene.  They told police that they went through the alley to get to their car which was parked on a nearby side street.  The police reports states that the juveniles began driving in the alley at the 2400 block of Belmeade, when they heard someone yelling at them, and they got out of the car to see what the man needed.  They told police that Dolberry was yelling and pointing the gun at them ordering them on the ground.  The boys told police that they obeyed his orders, and had no idea why Dolberry would point a gun at them.

Dolberry told officers that he was protecting his property after having some property damaged the night before.  According to police, he stated that he saw the subjects walking in the alley and thought they were in his back yard.  The police report states that Dolberry stopped the subjects before they drove off and ordered them to sit on the ground until the police arrived and that he never pointed the gun at them.  He further stated he was only carrying the gun for protection.

The police report states that a police officer had responded to the call on the night before regarding Dolberry’s property being damaged.  Brownwood Police Sgt. Tracy Delgado reported that Dolberry made the comment that he was going to sit in his backyard and shoot anyone who walked by according to the police report.  She informed him that he could not shoot people for just walking by his property the report states.

Dolberry was arrested, charged with deadly conduct and taken to the Brown County Jail without incident.  The firearm was photographed and taken as evidence.
