The Brownwood Police Department responded to several calls and cases over the weekend.

Foot As A Deadly Weapon

Late Friday night, officer Aaron Taylor was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 block of main street on a report of a man laying down in the parking lot bleeding.

Police reports state that when officer Taylor arrived on the scene, he observed a person laying face down in the parking lot in a large pool of blood with multiple head injuries.  According to the report, the victim told police that a man had punched him in the face and stomped on his head multiple times beating it into the asphalt parking lot.  The victim was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Upon investigating the area, officer Taylor questioned 32-year-old Felix Toro about the incident.  According to police reports, Toro told several different stories regarding where he was and what he was doing during the beating.  Toro also said that he thought that the victim was a child molester, but did not touch him.

The report indicates that based on evidence collected at the scene and eyewitness accounts, officer Taylor arrested Toro for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Officer Taylor explains in the report, “the investigation revealed that Toro used his foot in a way that was capable of causing death or serious bodily injury.  Based on this, Toro’s foot complies with the Texas Penal Code’s definition of a deadly weapon.”

Toro’s pajama pants that he was wearing were checked for blood stains and collected as evidence.

Toro is being held on $25,000 bond in the Brown County Jail as of Monday morning.
