Brownwood Police arrested a man on Tuesday after a traffic stop and charged him with 8 felony counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
Police arrested 53-year-old Michael Dean Hathcock of Brownwood as a result of the investigation according to Brownwood Police. Police said that evidence gathered during the traffic stop near Main St. and Baker prompted officers to conduct a consensual search of a room at the Executive Inn Hotel. Police commented that “a lot of drugs” were seized during the search.
The charges against Hathcock are for various types of drugs found including methamphetamine.
Police also arrested 26-year-old Joseph Western Holt of Fort Worth in connection with the case on two felony counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
In connection to the above drug arrest, 23-year-old Jennifer Rene Hathcock, of Brownwood, was also arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
On unrelated cases:
-Brownwood Police arrested 34-year-old Theron Dale Hutchens after a domestic dispute that began at a convenience store and later escalated at an apartment.
Police reports state that the suspect allegedly began to strangle a man at the store and bit him on the nose for being at the store with Hutchens’ wife. Reports state that the suspect fled the scene, but police were later called to an apartment where police believe that he attempted to strangle his wife.
Police reports indicate that during the arrest, Hutchens was found to be in possession of plastic bags that tested positive for methamphetamine. Police also found a switchblade type knife.
Hutchens is charged with Possession of a Controlled substance in a Drug Free Zone, Assault Family Violence Strangulation, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
-In another unrelated case, police were called to the 700 block of Avenue D regarding a domestic dispute where they encountered 84-year-old Clifford Louis Bessette. The police report states that Bessette became angry and agitated as officers questioned him outside of the home about what had occurred. Police indicate that the suspect began to enter his house during questioning. Officers grabbed Bessette’s coat to prevent him from entering the home where they believed he had a weapon according to the report. The report also states that the suspect then turned and attempted to grab the officer’s firearm from the holster. Bessette was subdued, arrested, and charged with Attempt to Take Weapon and Interfering with Public Duties.
