The Brownwood Police Department responded to several calls over the weekend with some arrests being made.
Arrest At The Park
On Friday, officer James Kidd was dispatched to an area of 8th Street regarding a report of suspicious activity by a man in the area. A police report submitted by officer Kidd states that he located the man in the 2400 block of 10th St. The man, identified as Anthony Palmer, told police that his girlfriend attends Brownwood High School and he was going to try and be in the area. Palmer said that his identification was in his vehicle which was parked at Coggin Park. The report states that officer Kidd released Palmer and proceeded to Coggin Park to follow up on the information that Palmer had provided. Officer Kidd observed the vehicle in the parking lot at the park as described by Palmer. The vehicle had clothing hanging over the drivers side window to keep rain out due to the window being broken.
Officer Kidd was advised that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Florida. Officer Harper arrived to watch the vehicle as Kidd attempted to locate Palmer again. The report states that Palmer returned to Coggin Park and was observed sitting at the pavilion by officers. Palmer was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and taken to Brown County Jail. The report also states that Palmer said that he had been living out of the vehicle for several weeks and it belonged to a relative.
Woman Arrested For DWI
On Saturday evening, officer Brandon Miller stopped a woman driving on Hwy 377. Police reports state that the driver identified as Amber Allen said that she did not have her drivers license with her. Officer Miller observed Allen having difficulty putting the vehicle into park. As Allen exited the vehicle and began walking, the report states that she began veering off towards the highway. The report also states that officer Miller observed Allen’s speech was very slurred and hard to understand. Miller administered the Filed Sobriety Tasks and then arrested Allen for DWI. The report says that officers also found a pill bottle without a label with several different kinds of pills inside.
Other Arrestes
-On Saturday, officer Brandon Miller made a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to signal for a turn. Miller arrested Bobby Foster for driving while license invalid and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
-On Sunday afternoon, officer Brandon Miller conducted a traffic stop and arrested Travis Hopkins for driving while license invalid and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
-On Sunday, Brownwood Police were called to a residence on Avenue C regarding a domestic disturbance. On the scene, police arrested 56-year-old Billy Gatlin for assault with injury family violence.
Other Police Calls
-Police were called to the 1500 block of Terrace on Thursday on a report of tires being slashed.
-On Friday, police received a report of a stolen license plate from a car parked in the 300 block of Market Place Blvd.
-Police were called to a residence at the 1800 block of 7th Street on Sunday regarding a parked vehicle having its tires slashed and windshield busted.
-On Sunday, police responded to a call at the 1200 block of Willis on a report of a stolen 4-wheeler.
