Police are investigating several cases and make arrests over the weekend in these unrelated cases.

Man Beaten In Apartment

–Officer Trey Weathermon was called to an apartment in the 400 block of Melwood in the early morning hours on Saturday regarding an assault with a person “bleeding profusely.”  According to police reports, officer Weathermon interviewed the elderly victim who stated that a man he knew “barged into his apartment” and began hitting him repeatedly in the temple on the left side of his head.  Weathermon’s report states that a large amount of blood was pouring out of the wound and a large amount of blood was observed in the apartment.  The report indicates that the victim believes the reason for the assault was because the man’s girlfriend was at the victims apartment.  The victim was taken by Guardian EMS to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment.

According to the police report, after Weathermon looked over the apartment, he relocated to the emergency room to check on the victim.  The officer learned that the victim had stopped breathing for a short time, but life saving measures were started by ER personnel which stabilized him.  Doctors indicated to Weathermon that the combination of alcohol in his system and loss of blood contributed to the victim’s halted breathing according to the report.

Reports indicate that police later learned that the man who committed the assault possibly stole a sum of money from the victim at the scene.  Police are seeking a warrant for the man’s arrest for Aggravated Robbery.
