Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley released crime statistics from the police department for the month of March along with year-to-date numbers for 2015 and 2016.
Corley releases Brownwood Police Department crime statistics on a monthly basis as a program to have a department that is more transparent to the public. Corley stated that he also looks at these numbers to see where the department needs to focus.
Corley said that there were 88 reported crimes in March which is 15 more than the previous month. Of the total number of crimes, 44.3% were cleared either by arrest or after further investigation. Cases of rape were increased by 4 incidents. Larceny thefts were increased by 50% while burglaries of habitations were decreased 50%.
There were 51 traffic accidents and 11 driving while intoxicated arrests reported in the city of Brownwood for March.
