Brownwood Police Officer Jesse Mares was recently promoted to the rank of Corporal and recognized at Brownwood City Council during Tuesday’s meeting.
Mares is a 2007 graduate of Brownwood High School and worked as an officer in Cisco after graduation from the academy until a position became available in Brownwood in September of 2011. When he was hired, BPD Chief Mike Corley noted that Mares was the top of his class at the academy.
In recognition of his promotion, Mares took the Oath of Office, administered by City Secretary Christi Wynn and Oath of Honor administered by Chief Corley.
Mares’ wife pinned his badge during the ceremony.
Mares was recently named Officer of the Year and was given a BPD Challenge Coin. He was presented with another Challenge Coin on Tuesday for this promotion.
