BPDpatchSmallOfficials at the Brownwood Police Department released the following information on Friday to warn citizens about recent medication thefts.

The Brownwood Police Department is investigating incidents in which victims have had prescription medications stolen from their residence. The medications are believed to have been stolen by an employee of a local electrical contractor.

The employee returns to the job site several times after its completion over a period of weeks or months, using the pretext that he needs to check the voltage/amperage of the residence for optimal performance. The employee has the homeowner step outside or to another part of the residence to watch the meter, while he stays inside and turns on appliances to check for voltage/amperage. While the homeowners occupied watching the meter, the suspect steals prescription medications.

Those who may have been a victim of this crime are encouraged to contact the Brownwood Police Department at 325-646-2525.
