*At approximately 4:43am, Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding a report of someone falling in the store.  The store manager explained to police that the man had fallen and claimed to have hurt his ankle; however, he believed the man was intoxicated.

Upon talking with two other employees who witnessed the man and his actions, 34-year-old David E. Tucknott was said to have walked up to the check stand area and sat in the floor, held his ankle for a short time, then walked toward the exit where he claimed the fall had worsened his previously sprained ankle according to police reports.

The responding officer performed standard field sobriety tests which indicated the subject to be intoxicated the report states.

The report states that when Guardian EMS arrived, one attendant had pushed on the injured ankle while Tucknott was told to look at another attendant.  When the attendant pushed on the ankle, Tucknott had no reflex or reaction to pain, causing the officer to believe he was faking the injury or so intoxicated his pain tolerance was considerably high as stated in the report.  Tucknott requested EMS to wrap his ankle; however declined transportation to the ER at BRMC for further evaluation according to the police report.

Tucknott was arrested for Public Intoxication and his bicycle was impounded for safe keeping until his release.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
