Brownwood News – The Brownwood Police Department recently released information regarding a narcotics task force arrest. According to the release, on Thursday, November 1st, the Brown County Narcotics Task Force executed a narcotics search/arrest warrant at a south Brownwood residence after an extended investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine.

 

 

During the execution of the search warrant, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine (1st Degree Felony) was recovered from the residence.  In addition to this controlled substance, officers also recovered materials that were consistent with the distribution of illegal drugs.  A quantity of higher quality marihuana (Class B misdemeanor) was also recovered from inside the residence.  Officers also recovered a semi-automatic handgun (3rd Degree Felony) with a large quantity of ammunition.

At the conclusion of the investigation, 32 year old Fernando Santos Perez and 26 year old Naomi Puentes of Brownwood were arrested.  Perez is charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in a drug free zone, and with possession of marijuana. Puentes was charged with the possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

The investigation surrounding this incident remains on-going and more arrests are likely.
