Brownwood News – The following calls for service were responded to by Brownwood Police and Brown County Sheriff’s officers in recent days.

Brownwood Police

While on patrol on October 7, 2019, at approximately 1300 hours, Officers were dispatched to 2700 Memorial Drive in reference to Fraud. Officers met with the complainant and a report for Forgery of Financial Instrument was made.

On Thursday, September 26, at 14:00 hrs, while on duty at 2100 Slayden (Brownwood High School), Officer was approached by complainant and victim in the resource office of the campus in reference to a stolen laptop computer.  An investigation into theft began and a suspect named.
Case will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, Officers responded to the 2400 block of Coggin Avenue in reference to a male yelling and drinking outside. After speaking to persons on scene, the male was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and transported to the Brown County Jail.

On Tuesday October 8, 2019, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Commerce in reference to an accident. When officers arrived the victim of the accident stated she observed the occupants of the other vehicle through out alcoholic beverages. When officers began the accident investigation the driver of unit 1 was emitting a strong odor of metabolized alcohol. An investigation for driving while intoxicated ensued and the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, Officers responded to the 1800 block of 4th Street in reference to a vehicle burglary. After speaking to the affected parties, the scene was processed and a report was generated.

Brown County Sheriff’s Department

On October 4, Deputy Hammonds traveled to County Road 594.  This was a follow-up to a possible illegal septic tank.

On Monday, October 7, at approximately 15:00 hours, Deputy Burke was dispatched to an address on FM 2525.  This was in reference to an animal cruelty report and investigation.

On October 7, at approximately 23:21 hours, Corporal Hopson responded to County Road 604 for a disturbance.  Contacted was a man who was subsequently arrested for Theft from Person and Assault Causes Bodily Injury-Family Violence.  He was transported to the Brown County Jail where he was released to jail staff.
