Brownwood News – The following calls were responded to over the Christmas holidays by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Brownwood Police Department.
BROWN COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT
On December 23, 2019, at about 12:11 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at the Law Enforcement Center and spoke to an elderly woman for a report of fraud. The woman stated someone had opened an account with Verizon without her consent.
On December 23, at approximately 16:21, Deputy Ashley Harris responded to a report of a theft of a dog at West Main Blvd. A report was made.
On Monday, December 23, at about 17:16 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to Franke Street in regards to a found bicycle. Deputy Simpson spoke with the caller who advised the bike had been at the location since around 17:00 hours on Saturday. Deputy Simpson took custody of the bicycle and took it to the Sheriff’s Office.
On December 23, at around 5:50 pm, Deputy Ashley Harris was dispatched to a call on County Road 232. This was for Illegal Dumping of a deceased goat. A report was made.
On December 23, 2019, Deputy Taylor Fletcher assisted Chief Deputy James Stroope on a traffic stop on Belle Plain. During a consent search, drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. Also a meth pipe with residue was found in the female driver’s purse. Also found in the purse was a pill bottle containing 3 Tramadol tablets and a Lorazepam tablet with a combined weight of approximately 0.8 grams. A baggie containing 0.1 grams of methamphetamine also fell out of the subject’s pant leg as she was being placed into a patrol unit. She was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone, due to the proximity of Gladys Seward Park.
On Tuesday, December 24, at about 19:21 hours, Deputy Simpson and Deputy Fabbiani responded to U.S. Highway 377 South. This was in regards to a reckless driver driving into oncoming traffic. Description of the vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler four door. Deputies located the vehicle in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 377. Deputy Simpson did a reasonable suspicious stop on the vehicle with information provided by multiple callers. The driver was identified. Deputy Simpson had the male driver perform a Field Sobriety Test. The man was placed into custody for Misdemeanor Class B Driving While Intoxicated with Open Container and Misdemeanor Class A Unlawful Carrying of Weapon. He was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for a blood draw. According to the report, the man attempted to delay the blood draw multiple times at the hospital. A blood draw was later taken. He was later taken to Brown County Jail.
On the night of December 24, Deputy Taylor Fletcher responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Reagor Lane. The victim claimed her boyfriend had strangled her during an assault and taken away her phone to prevent her from talking to 911. The female had injuries consistent with her assault claims. The male was arrested for Assault Family Violence Strangulation and Interference with Emergency Call.
On Wednesday, December 25, at 12:35 hours, Deputy Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center in regards to a walk-in for criminal mischief. Deputy Bastardo spoke with a woman who said during a child exchange, her cell phone was damaged by a man. A report was taken.
BROWNWOOD POLICE BLOTTER
On Sunday, December 22, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of 7th Street in reference to a theft and disorderly conduct, breach of peace. The individual was later found to be a juvenile. The juvenile was detained and later cited for the incident. A report was generated.
On December 22, Brownwood officers were dispatched to WalMart in reference to a theft. A report has been generated.
On December 23, the Brownwood Police Department was dispatched to the south side of Brownwood at 4th Street and Good Shepherd in reference to a lost industrial tool. The investigation is ongoing in an attempt to locate the missing property.
On December 24, officers with Brownwood PD responded around the 1200 block of Austin Avenue in reference to a Domestic Disturbance. A report was generated regarding this call.
On Tuesday, December 24, at approximately 22:20 hours, Brownwood Police Officers were dispatched to a south Brownwood address in the 2000 block of U.S. Highway 377 in reference to theft. A report was generated for this incident.
On December 24, at 23:00 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Belle Plain in reference to an assault. A report was taken to be passed on for further investigation.
On December 24, at approximately 22:44 hours, Officers with the Brownwood Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Coggin Avenue in reference to a stolen animal. A report was generated for this incident.
On Wednesday, December 25, Officers responded to the intersection of Avenue H and 1st Street in reference to a man not letting a woman out of the car. When officers arrived on scene, they located the man and woman. While trying to separate the parties, a struggle with the man occurred. The man was detained and the investigation continued. The man was taken into custody for Interference with Public Duties and Assault on a Police Officer.
On Wednesday, December 25, Officers responded to the 1500 block of Terrace in reference to a domestic disturbance. After arriving and speaking to all involved parties, a man was taken into custody for Continuous Family Violence and Injury to a Child. The man was taken to the Brown County Jail and a report was generated.
