IowaParkPlayoff

The Brownwood Lions earn their 11th straight win this season and take their first round playoff victory Thursday night against the Iowa Park Hawks in Springtown with a score of 88-24.  Not only does this win keep them in the playoff, but the score puts the team in the BHS history books with the highest BHS score in modern game history (that is since UIL ranking was adopted).

It was a very intense game that took about three and a half hours to complete.  Brownwood controlled an amazing part of the game as the score shows, with 574 total offensive yards.  Of those yards, 127 were rushing and 447 were passing.  Iowa Park had 457 total yards, 264 rushing and 187 in the air.

Iowa Park punted 6 times compared to the one punt from Brownwood.  It was a penalty filled game with each team racking up 12, Brownwood lost a total of 100 yards and Iowa Park lost 128.

The atmosphere of the game heated up with some Iowa Park personal fouls, late hits, and Brownwood Head Coach Bob Shipley did not take it lightly.

“I’m disappointed in the way things progressed through the game.  Not much to say but that I’m going to protect my kids,” stated Shipley.  “We’re lucky we didn’t have some kids seriously hurt with all the late hits.”
With this win, Brownwood will go on to play in the 3A Division 2 Area playoff game November 19th against either Bridgeport or West.
