Brownwood News – Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls which were included on reports released Monday, December 23.

BROWN COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

On Friday, December 20, at 10:10 am, Deputy Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to Highway 84 East in Early.  This was in regards to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.  Upon arrival he spoke with a man who said an unknown person had stolen his vehicle.  A report was taken.

On December 20, at approximately 2:00 pm, Deputy Andre Smoot with the BCSO was dispatched to the 100 block of Avenue C in Blanket.  This was regarding unknown subjects attempting to enter a residence without the owners consent.  Deputy Smoot made contact with the complainant and discovered there were inconsistencies with the details he told dispatch versus what he stated to the deputy.  Then, Deputy Smoot located a neighbor who was observing the area during the time the complainant called in and discovered the complainant was making a false report.  The complainant, turned suspect, was arrested for False Report to a Peace Officer.

On December 21, Deputy Toby Mathis was dispatched to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for a report of an accident between a vehicle and several pedestrians.  Location given on the report was FM 590 South in Zephyr.  There were three victims with a man identified as a suspect.  A report was made for further investigation.

On December 21, at approximately 12:45 pm, Deputy Andre Smoot was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle on North Highway 279 traveling south near Park Road 15.  He observed suspicious behavior from the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The driver later admitted to having marijuana inside the vehicle.  Marijuana was located and the driver was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

On December 22, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to FM 1467 in Zephyr.  This was for a report of theft.  A man reported his welder was taken from his property.  Information was gathered and a report was made.

On December 2, at approximately 19:11, Deputy Jose Rodriguez was dispatched to handle a call by phone.  This was from County Road 147, Brownwood, in regards to stolen game cameras on a hunting lease.  A report was made.

On December 22, at approximately 19:54 hours, Cpl. Hopson initiated a traffic stop on a 2007 Hyundai 4 door for failing to dim their headlights and expired registration.  The stop was made at South U.S. Highway 183 and County Road 271.  Cpl. Hopson contacted the female driver who was subsequently arrested for Driving With License Invalid-Previous Conviction, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and Expired Registration.  She was taken to Brown County Jail and released to staff.

BROWNWOOD POLICE BLOTTER

On Sunday, December 8, at approximately 12:40 hours, Brownwood PD officers responded to the 300 block of Maple Street for a warrant service.  A report has been generated.

On Thursday, December 19, at approximately 14:46 hours, an officer was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center.  A complainant wished to report two items stolen from his son’s vehicle.  The complainant advised the officer that two firearms were stolen out of his son’s vehicle.  The officer asked if the complainant wished to file charges and he said yes.  A report was generated and completed.

On Thursday, December 19, at approximately 15:46 hours, Officer Risdon was dispatched to the 1200 block of Vine Street regarding a harassment call.  Upon arrival and investigation, a report was completed.

On December 19, at approximately 16:30 hours, Officer J. Wells was dispatched to the 400 block of West Commerce for a report of theft.

On Friday, December 20, at approximately 08:29 hours, a Brownwood PD Officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of 10th Street in reference to a burglary of a vehicle.  A report was generated.

On Friday, December 20, at approximately 09:18 hours, an officer arrived to the 1900 block of Vinson in reference to an unwanted person.

On Friday, December 20, officers were made aware a female had in her possession a drug test falsification device.  Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Main Street where a female was located and placed into custody for the device.

On Friday, December 20, at approximately 19:53 hours, an officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 67/84 (Commerce) in reference to a reckless driver.  The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.  An investigation was conducted and an arrest was made.  A report has been generated.

On December 21, at 09:39 hours, a Brownwood Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of West Commerce in reference to the theft of a firearm.  A suspect was named and the investigation is on-going.

On Saturday, December 21, at approximately 10:18 hours, a Brownwood Police Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of West Commerce in reference to a theft.   A report has been generated.

On December 21, at 15:08 hours, a Brownwood PD Officer was dispatched to a 300 Block of Marketplace Boulevard in reference to a theft of headphones.  A suspect was named and a report was generated.

On December 21, at 15:50 hours, a Brownwood PD Officer became aware of a possible domestic disturbance that had occurred in the 300 block of Simmons Street the previous evening.  A suspect was named and a report was generated.

On Saturday, December 21, Officers responded to the 1000 block of Beaver in reference to items being stolen out of a vehicle.  After speaking to the owner of the vehicle, a report was generated.

On Sunday, December 22, officers responded to the intersection of East Baker and Washington Street for a vehicle accident.  After an investigation, the male driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.  The man was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for a blood draw and then taken to the Brown County Jail without further incident.

On Sunday, December 22, at approximately 23:58 hours, Officer Donahoo was dispatched to the 1200 block of Avenue B in reference to criminal mischief.  A report was generated.

On December 22, at 09:29 hours, a Brownwood PD Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Avenue G in reference to the theft of two firearms.  Two suspects are named and a report was generated.

On December 22, an officer was dispatched to an address in south Brownwood in the 2800 block of Avenue D.  Dispatch stated the caller stated he was married, and due to a language barrier, he could not understand why she was upset.  Upon officer arrival, it was discovered that the male had assaulted the female.  The male was placed under arrest for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence.

On Monday, December 23, at approximately 00:06 hours, Officer Donahoo initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of CC Woodson.  An investigation for Driving While Intoxicated was completed and an arrest was made.
