The Brownwood Economic Development Corporation promoted local industries this week at the 2013 Southwest Energy Summit held at Texas State Technical College West Texas in Sweetwater.

Energy industry employees from across the state attended the two-day summit which included sessions on oil and natural gas, wind energy, nuclear energy, workforce and regional infrastructure, transportation and coal.

BEDC Director Emily Crawford and Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing Manager Ray Tipton manned a booth at the summit on behalf of Brownwood.

“We want to promote our local industries that offer support and services to other oil and gas companies,” Crawford said.  “With the oil boom in the Permian Basin and exploration of the Cline Shale, it is important for Brownwood to have a presence at these events to promote our location, resources, and available land.”

Crawford said that her office has seen a recent increase in inquires from oil and gas related companies and she expects that to continue.
