Brownwood News – Brownwood native Jerry Stubblefield, author and playwright will visit Brownwood on March 30 for a book signing event for his new novel, The Paraclete.

 

Stubblefield will do a reading, sign copies of his book and comment on the writing of his new work as well as his previous writings. He and his wife Cindy, who will accompany him during his visit, reside in North Carolina.

The book signing and reading will be at 2 pm on Saturday, March 30 at the Brownwood Art Center on Fisk St. The event is free and open to the public with prior registration. The new novel is set in a small town and mentions places which may be familiar to those living in the area. Stubblefield attended public schools here and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BFA in playwriting. His plays have been produced in New York City, Los Angeles and in regional theaters and university settings.

He has published short fiction and poetry in various literary journals and taught creative writing workshops. He has also been a guest lecturer at various colleges and universities.

Stubblefield’s first novel, Homunculus, was critically acclaimed when published in 2009. Booklist said: “it’s portrait of neurotic impulses made flesh is one readers won’t soon forget.”
