Brownwood Middle School students are one of the groups helping to decorate ceramic bowls for the Good Samaritan Ministries’ second Empty Bowls Event on Thursday, March 31st at the Depot.
The Empty Bowls Event is a special program designed to bring awareness to the plight of hunger on both a local and global level.
For a suggested $10 donation, a simple meal of soup, bread and water will be served in hand-painted bowls. After the meal, the diner is encouraged to take his or her bowl home to serve as a reminder that many bowls and stomachs remain empty—even in Brown County.
The come and go event will be held from 11:00am-7:00pm and a silent auction will be held as well. Any restaurant that would like to donate soup or individual who would like to donate items for the auction may call the GSM office at 325-643-2273. Anyone who would like to make and donate ceramic bowls for the event may also call the office for more information. Any donations are welcome.
Pictured are Nidia Molina and Tori Burkett, two of the students in Mrs. Mize’s middle school art class that are decorating ceramic bowls for the Good Samaritan’s Empty Bowls Event. Mrs. Mize’s students have painted bowls and are firing them in the Middle School kiln.
