Brownwood News – On Tuesday, March 26, Brownwood Middle School held an induction ceremony for new members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). A total of 12 new 8th grade members and 34 new 7th grade members were inducted during the ceremony which featured guest speaker, Mr. Gene Deason.
The ceremony was called to order by BMS student and NJHS Chapter President, Andrew Boren. BMS Teacher and Chapter Advisor, Terry Cantwell introduced the criteria for selection, which was further explained by current BMS NJHS members, Shyli Winstead (Chapter Secretary), Emma Carroll (Chapter Vice President), Danaya Morton (Chapter Treasurer), Lindsey Bowden, and Liam McNeese. The criteria by which National Junior Honor Society members are selected includes encouraging and maintaining high standards in scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship and character.
