The floor of the newer gymnasium at the Brownwood Middle School will have to be replaced after damage it sustained due to vandalism according to school district officials.
The Middle School gym floor received substantial water damage recently after a drain line was damaged. Officials said that a 6” drain line that went into the building was damaged in such a way that caused rain water to flood the gym floor. The school has taken action to prevent this from happening in the future.
“We took two or three measures to prevent, even if they do the vandalism again, the water from getting into the gym,” said school Maintenance Director Vic Singleton.
The floor will cost $64,780.47 to replace, and it is fully covered by insurance. BISD has a $10,000 deductible. The replacement of the floor was awarded to Prestige Hardwood and Construction of Brownwood.
