Brownwood News – Wednesday, March 7th, members of the Brownwood Middle School (BMS) 8th grade band traveled to Hamilton to compete in the UIL Region 7 Concert & Sight-Reading Contest.

 

 

The band earned a first division rating in both areas of competition and brought back a Sweepstakes trophy.  This Sweepstakes award marks the fourth one received in BMS history.

The band performed “Summit March” by Bennet/Clark, “Ballet of Spring” by Britten, and “Danza De Espana” by Chambers. Judge Keith Zuehlke from Clifton said, “What a great performance I enjoyed every minute of it!” Mike Lunney, retired band director from Abilene Wylie, stated, “Very mature band and smart, well taught ensemble.” He also mentioned that the Brownwood band had “Great attention to detail.”

The band’s next performance will be at the BMS Night of the Arts, Thursday, March 22, where the band will perform selections from their UIL contest.
