Press Release – Brownwood Masonic Lodge #279 received monetary donations from their members, Citizens National Bank, Waldrop Construction, and Bruner Automotive to be distributed to counselors at five elementary schools: Early Primary, Early elementary, Woodland Heights, East Elementary, and Northwest Elementary.
Each School received $250 to provide funds for the counselors to purchase new clothing for children as needs arise.
“The counselors at our schools see the needs of the children in our community, and this money would allow them to help meet those most basic needs,” wrote Mike Terrill, Assistant Professor of Athletic Training at Howard Payne University in a recent release.
“We, as free and accepted Masons, are obligated, to the best of our abilities, to assist the children in our community. There are children without warm coats, holes in their shoes, and clothing that is worn out or does not fit in our community and the school counselors are able to assess and meet the individual needs with this money,” Terrill also stated in the release.
Freemasonry, or Masonry, is a fraternity which exists to “take good men and help them to become better men,” and is believed to be the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The Brownwood Lodge #279, located in the Masonic District 76, is a 151 Year old Lodge, chartered June 13, 1865. The group meets on the first Thursday of each Month.
