BrownwoodNews – The Brownwood High School (BHS) Band competed at the UIL Region 7 Marching Band Contest at Mineral Wells High School on Saturday, October 20th.
This year’s show features the music of Beethoven, including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, “Pathetique Sonata”, “Scheroz”, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 “Ode to Joy.” The band earned a first division rating from each of the three contest judges who noted very positive comments regarding the performance.
Retired band director, Paul Fullerton, stated, “Wonderful ensemble sounds!”
“Great low brass tones, Bravo,” wrote retired band director, David Kirkley. “Good Woodwinds!”
Forrester Halamicek, a retired band director from Llano, commented, “Keep up the good work. Best wishes for the future!”
“Congratulations to the Lion Band for outstanding work,” said BHS Band Director, David Lambert. “The Mighty Maroon Lion Marching Band will advance and compete at the UIL Area B Marching Contest this coming Saturday at Collins Stadium in Denton. Please come out and support your hometown band.”
