District Judge Steve Ellis sentenced 45-year-old Robert Thornburgh Jr. to two stacked life sentences in 35th District Court on Friday on two counts of sexual assault of a child.

A Brown County jury found Thornburgh guilty on Thursday after the week-long trial.

Thornburgh was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl back in 2006.

Thornburgh was arrested on December 22, 2011 by a Brown County Sheriff’s deputy on outstanding warrants after an investigation by the Brownwood Police Department.

Officials said at the time of his arrest that an outcry for help from a female juvenile to a counselor in September of 2010 led to the investigation.   Officials also said that the original investigation and testimony at the trial suggest that Thornburgh is a suspect in the sexual assault of other teen girls.
