WesFletcherHwy36Tuesday afternoon just after 4pm, an accident involving a pick-up and an 18-wheeler left a Brownwood man seriously injured.    32-year-old Wes Fletcher was air lifted to Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene after his pick-up struck the semi.  The driver of the semi and his passenger sustained minor injuries after the 18-wheeler pulling a cattle trailer overturned according to DPS troopers.

Reports indicate that the pick-up was driving eastbound on Hwy 36 about 15 miles west of Cross Plains near the community of Rowden when it swerved over the median.  The semi driver, traveling westbound, tried to avoid the crash and hit a guard rail causing the trailer to flip.   Crews were able to remove the uninjured cattle from the trailer after the crash.

Fletcher was transported by air to Hendricks Hospital in Abilene with serious injuries.   Surgeons are reported to have stated that “no one survives a wreck of this magnitude.”   Family and friends are asking for prayers from the community through a flurry of posts through Facebook for Fletcher’s recovery.
