The Brownwood Lions Football team faced the Breckenridge Buckaroos on the road Friday night with a big win.
The Lions had a solid game both defensively and offensively to take the win with a final score of 45-7.
Scoring Drive Summaries:
Brownwood scored in the first 18 seconds of the game when #4 Luke Chastain caught a 40 yard touchdown pass.
Breckenridge gets the ball back, but fumbles at the line of scrimmage where Brownwood picks it back up. That leads to another touchdown pass completion to Chastain in the first quarter.
With about 4 minutes left in the 1st, Breckenridge fumbles again where #5 Joseph Henry scoops it up. Brownwood’s next drive ends with a pass from QB #14 Vance McShan to #8 Jaxon Shipley deep in the endzone for another touchdown. This ends the first quarter with Brownwood in the lead 21-0.
Early in the 2nd quarter, #65 Levi Westerman strips the ball from Breckenridge to run it back for a defensive touchdown.
In the closing seconds of the 2nd quarter, #38 Stehl Ratliff makes a short rushing touchdown to end the half with Brownwood leading 35-0.
About 7 minutes into the 3rd quarter, Ratliff rushes for another touchdown using some great moves and cuts.
On their next possession after McShan has a pass deflected and catches his own pass for a gain, the Lions finish the drive with a field goal.
Brownwood coasts for the rest of the game taking the win with a 45-7 final score.
After the game, head coach Bob Shipley said that he was proud of how all of the kids played. He is now looking to next weeks Homecoming game against Graham who is undefeated so far for the season.
This win put Brownwood with a 5-2 record overall and 1-1 in district play for the season.
