Despite Liberty Hill being ranked #7 and being the 20 point favorite, the Brownwood Lions came to play and gave the Panthers a shocking 32-18 defeat Friday night.

Brownwood Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Shipley was very excited about the win stating that this one was a big one.  He stated that the team “showed up” tonight, played a complete game and that he was extremely proud of the team and coaches.

“The Brownwood Lions have arrived,” shouted Shipley as he congratulated the team after the game on their hard fought victory.  “We have to keep pouring that on.  That feeling you have right now, no amount of money can buy, and your hard work has paid off.”

Shipley said that this win was huge for the team and him.  He stated that he didn’t know if he’s been more proud of a team than he was at that moment after the game.  He added that there wasn’t a player or group he could single out to give credit for the win, that it was truly a team effort.

“The team played with a lot of heart and passion tonight, that’s what we’ve been waiting for.  This win was huge,” said Shipley to the team and coaches.  “This is probably the biggest win I have had as a head coach since 2002.  It’s because you believed in each other and worked your tails off, we gotta keep it up.”

He encouraged the team that they have found their game.

“We don’t even know yet how good we can be.  Get with your families and celebrate…because the Brownwood Lions are back baby,” Shipley told the team.

The Lions are now 2-0 in district play as they look for their next District 8-3A game next week against Lampasas at Gordon Wood Stadium.
