The Bluebonnet Relays were held March 7th & 8th, the Brownwood Lions took top honors with 1st place in the 3A varsity boys competition and the Lady Lions varsity earned second place.
Athletes represented schools across the state with twenty-nine varsity teams and 15 JV team participating.
The BHS track teams won medals in 27 events.
Kaimon Ontiveros placed 1st in the varsity men’s 200m with a time of 23:13. Colt Garrett won the varsity men’s 400m with a 54.43. Dylan Person took top honors in the varsity men’s 1600m run with a time of 4:46.94 and 3200m run with a 10:41.20.
The women’s varsity earned several gold medals. Lexie Lewis won the 200m with a time of 25.59. Jessica Romero placed first in the 3200m with a 12:07.65. Sharday Melvin conquered the 300m hurdles with a 48.46. Victoria Henry threw 39’4.5” in the shot put to take first place. The 4x200m women’s relay took gold with a time of 48.46.
Brownwood ISD elementary students in 1st through 6th grades also competed in the races.
