Not only did the Brownwood Lions varsity scrimmage this past Saturday against Lubbock Monterrey, but the Junior Varsity also had a go at them and the Brownwood Lions coaching staff was anxious to let fans know how the boys are doing.
JV head coach Ty Lang said, “We saw a lot of good things.” Although the Lions only have one JV team, at last Saturday’s scrimmage they were divided into two teams. One to play Lubbock Monterrey’s sophomore team and the other to play their JV team.
Lang said among player highlights, Zac Fulton had a 5 yard touchdown run and Mitch Stephens played well at quarterback against Monterrey’s JV team.
Lang said, “Though we still have some work to do, the kids hustled around the field and we are excited about what this group will do this year.”
The freshman, JV, and varsity teams travel to scrimmage San Angelo Central this Friday as the last scrimmage before the regular season starts.
