Brownwood Lions faced a disappointing night as they were defeated by the Stephenville Yellow Jackets on Friday night. The Lions’ first defeat this year was “obviously an incredible disappointment” according to Head Coach Bob Shipley as they suffered a 66-0 shutout.
“I’ve never been associated with a loss like this, but I’m still proud to be their coach and proud to be a Brownwood Lion,” stated Shipley. “It’s discouraging but we will learn from this, learn to compete like champions.”
Brownwood had 222 yards of total offense with 160 on the ground and 62 passing. Stephenville had 586 total yards of offense with 405 rushing and 181 passing.
Although the game was a disappointment to coaches and players, Coach Shipley said that the team will need to move past this loss to have success for the rest of the season.
“We’ve got to learn from it, try to overcome it, and not lose this game more than once,” Shipley said. “In other words, we are going to have to come out and play, not thinking about this game next week.”
The Brownwood Lions now sit with a 2-1 record on the season as they look to face Llano at home next Friday.
